If you take a flight path while you have a Demon out, the Demon will despawn, but you'll get the Soul Shard spent on the Demon back.
Only one demon may be active at a time, with your current summoned Demon despawning once you start invoking another one. With the exception of the Imp, all Warlock Demons require a Soul Shard to summon. Unlike Hunter Pets, Warlock Demons are much less complex - You do not need to feed them or keep them happy, as they're merely servants ready to do your bidding. Warlocks have access to many different demons, with different capabilities and different uses. Obtaining and summoning Demons is an iconic part of the Warlock Classic in Classic WoW.
